Common interview questions (and how to answer them)

Most interviews repeat the same common questions: tell me about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, why this company, why we should hire you, and where you see yourself. Prepare a strong, specific answer to each — then practise saying them out loud.

The questions you'll almost always get

• Tell me about yourself
• What is your greatest weakness?
• Why should we hire you?
• Why do you want to work here?
• What is your greatest strength?
• Where do you see yourself in five years?

How to prepare

Write a few bullet points for each, tailored to the specific job, and rehearse them aloud. Reading an answer is not the same as delivering it under pressure — the words come out differently when someone is watching.
